The greatest challenge faced today by organization all over the world is retaining talented employee in the organization. Today employee retention is the top priority of organizations due to increasing competition. It is an efficient and productive advance towards the employee management who are considered to be 'greatest assets' to the company. To manage top talent it requires a constant balance between the human aspirations and the strategic and financial needs of the business. Employee retention is a technique adopted by businesses to maintain an effective

workforce and at the same time meet operational requirements. Employee retention is a vital issue and challenge to the organization now days. There are number of factors which promote the employees to stay or leave the organization. It may be external factors, internal factors and the combined effect of both. It is the need of the hour that HR managers should identify the needs of the employee and then devises the retention strategies. When an organization loses its talented employee it lefts a negative impact on innovation, customer satisfaction, knowledge gain during the past years and on the profitability of the organization. More over replacing cost of another employee contribute a lot to the organization. This study relates exclusively with employee retention, tools used for retaining employees, data gathering techniques and employee delight a new way to retain employees in an organization. This involves the creation of opportunities for role enhancement within the company as well as retaining the employee for an organization that makes them to enhance their reputation. This study attempts to find out the impact of various measures that helps to frame the retention of employee and also to analyse the overall organizational climate prevailing at the organization. The causes of employee attrition were determined based on the nature and magnitude. This study was carried out with the employees of idea cellular working at Chennai and the findings provide the organization to retain their employees.
