Abstract:

The situation of sugarcane farmers in Eastern part of Uttar Pradesh is very miserable. Nowadays approximately all the sugar factories of the Eastern U.P. have been shut down. Due to which sugarcane farmers are not able to sell their sugarcane. Even for the last fifteen years sugar cane farmers have not got the payment of their sugar cane from the sugar factories. Many sugar cane farmers have committed suicide due to their poor miserable conditions. Lack of proper irrigation resources made the situation of farmers' worst. This paper is focus on to find the factors which are responsible for the miserable situations of the sugarcane farmers in Eastern U.P. Exploratory research has been one to identify the factors. Questionnaire based survey has been conducted among the sugarcane farmers. Further, factor analysis has been conducted to determine the factors for miserable situation of sugar farmers in Eastern part of Uttar Pradesh.
